Garden Route Beaches

Blessed by nature with good climate, the Garden Route is the ultimate beach holiday destination in South Africa, offering lots of sunshine and pristine extensive beaches. Here is a list of the Garden Route beaches.

Wilderness

Wilderness is home to clear Indian Ocean water beaches surrounded by fossils sand dunes. The beach extends for miles with nothing in the way of clear white sand, and in the distant rocky outcrop of Gerick’s Point intensifying from the ocean spray. Go to Dolphin point and overlook the stunning stretch of beach below, where you will often schools of dolphins frolicking in the waters below.

Plettenberg Bay

This sun-filled town is surrounded by majestic mountains, and plays host to miles of clean sandy beaches and clear warm waters. Plettenberg Bay offers some great surfing waves for the seasoned surfer as well as the amateur.

Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth is host to clean beautiful beaches with warm water temperatures ranging between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius during summer, and calm sea conditions unless the South Easterly is blowing. There is ample opportunity for a variety of watersports.

Nature's Valley

As the name suggests, everything is as nature has intended at Nature’s Valley. You can enjoy beach walking, surfing, rooting around rock pools and slumping in the sand. This is a spectacular, secluded escape hatch within easy reach of modernization where the beach is nearly isolated, and you can walk for miles to attractive streams where otters play.

Mossel Bay

Popular with family vacations, Mossel Bay has bountiful beaches on the shores of the mild Indian Ocean, and has the only north-facing beaches in South Africa by good quality of the deeply concave bay. There are also spectacular areas for surfing.
